In September of 2002 a child was born, his older sister was two years old. Within a week this law practice was formed. Probably a crazy idea, but it felt right. Today we represent many of the largest entities in our part of the GTA. And just as important, some of the smallest. It really doesn’t matter to us; they all receive the same promise:

Business is a contact sport. Consider this:
96% of businesses fail within 10 years. The hardest thing to do in sports is hit a baseball. Yet, even the worst hitters have an average above a hundred, three times better than this business stat. Despite the odds, every year a fresh crop of would-be captains of capitalism take to the ice, determined to be the next big thing. It’s exciting, the entrepreneurial spirit is the highest octane that fuels our economy.
Our role? When that flying elbow is coming at you, when that 100-mph fastball is barreling towards your chin, when that 275-pound linebacker launches himself at your knees, we make sure you get through it. You see the risk before it lands, we help you use your skill to evade and accelerate through the pressure. That’s our role. To make sure you don’t get derailed on your quest to change how the game is played.
It’s been said it’s not what you do, it’s how you do it. We agree. Listen carefully. Research deeply, unrelentingly. Prepare, prepare, prepare. Not all matters are complex, but the process of protecting you never changes.
If you go swimming, you’re going to get wet. There is no way around it. Likewise, with being in business. The law is part of the gig. Incorporating, licensing, regulations, mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, management decisions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, competition, financing, employment. We’ll do our best to keep you dry.
Litigation, once it reaches court, is a serious, gut wrenching affair. It’s not for the faint of heart. And it’s expensive. We try hard to avoid this path, seeking to negotiate a positive settlement for you, to avoid this burden. At the same time, we know that such an outcome is only possible from a position of strength. Simply, we follow this advice; don’t hit at all if it is honourably possible to avoid hitting, but never hit soft.
Note the root word of the word succession; success. That’s our approach when it comes to planning and preparing you and your business when you retire. Making sure your real-life plans are not exposed to unnecessary or avoidable hazards.
